A Billionaire's Billion Dollar Wedding

It was certainly the preference of Kazakh-born oil mogul Mikhail Gutseriev who a few weeks ago, decided to throw his son, Said Gutseriev, a wedding celebration in Moscow that even the highest paid global celebrities themselves wouldn’t dream of. Guess this becomes a habit when you have a Forbes suggested net worth of US$6.2 billion.

The extravagant event that has been said to cost up to US$1 billion, featured guest appearances and performances from some "average" artists, only the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Sting and Enrique Iglesias. What’s even more astounding is the fact that all these performances almost played second fiddle considering the celebration also featured a 9-tier cake and get this, a custom-made bride’s gown that was so heavily embellished, it weighed nearly 13 kilograms! Not sure if we are supposed to feel amazed or sorry for the bride, Khadija Uzhakhovs, who had to carry this on herself for the duration of the event.

By the way, to keep the event from not being too low-key, there was also a fireworks display to end the night…
