Historic waterfront venue delivers vintage wedding experience just the way you imagine
You don’t have to be a history geek to host an elegant vintage wedding. Foxglove, an iconic Wellington waterfront-wedding venue with a stunning sea view works out the magic with meticulous details and a sprinkle of 1940s glamour.
As there are really no rules when it comes to falling in love, Foxglove ups the element of surprise without any standard set of table plans, packages or decorations. The bare and charming Queens Wharf Ballroom waits to be transformed by every unique couple that fell in love with Foxglove.
Setting up for a typical wedding at Foxglove typically begins with the essentials such as the chairs, cake and decorations. With the setup for the ceremony in place, the Queens Wharf Ballroom is all set to enchant with its cozy, inclusive space.
After the ceremony, it’s time to sweep everyone's feet over at the Foxtail Champagne & Cocktail Bar with nothing less than glasses of Moet & Chandon champagne and exquisite canapés. Be spoilt with alluring trays of delights such as goat curd & thyme croquette, crispy pork belly and cumin spiced pulled lamb shoulder. Charcuterie and vegetarian platters are also spread throughout the room.
With the bubbles flowing and the guests mingling, the staff work on re-setting the room for the grand reception dinner. Once again this is all customized to the bride and groom’s specifications of course, every detail from the favors to the place names. Another bonus is that couples need not to worry about organizing and providing table cloths, napkins, cutlery and glassware as this will all be provided by the Foxglove venue itself.
Once the ballroom is set, the guests are invited back in to find their seats. Whilst this is going on, the bridal party finally gets a moment of peace in Foxtail where they nibble on some canapés that have been kept at the back especially for them. Back in the ballroom, the MC soon calls on the newly weds to make their much anticipated entrance and take their seats in the front of the room.
The bride and groom will have also pre-picked their chosen wines to be served during dinner and these bottles are placed on every table, extras are of course available at the bar along with bottled and tap beers.
As the speeches take place, staff will begin to go around the tables taking orders and also topping up extra champagne glasses for the celebratory toast. Entrees and mains that shortly arrive at the tables include a mouth-watering selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delights. A few highlights include roast pork loin with heirloom carrot, steamed fish, saffron mayonnaise and parsley and shallot salad. The cutting of the cake follows once the guests have finished with their meal and at the plates have been cleared; the cake is cut and served with a desert.
More drinking and dancing brings the celebrations to a close, guests can even take photos in the photo booth or enjoy any other entertainment that has been planned. Last but not least, no wedding is complete at Foxglove without a famous picture of the couple and what made everything happen in the first place, LOVE.
