Hitchbird sat down with AFFIANCE WEDDING to gain some insights on ideas and tips for pre-wedding photography. With the rise of social media apps such as Pinterest and Instagram, the trend of what's hot and what's not keep evolving. How do couples out there know the do's and don'ts of pre-wedding photography? We sat down with Hong Kong-based wedding company, Affiance Wedding, to get all of our questions answered.
What are the trends these days for pre-wedding photography? You have done a lot of underwater photoshoots for couples – is that one of your specialities?
We do not specialize in underwater photoshoots, however, we try our utmost best to cater to our clients’ needs. If they are looking to shoot underwater, we will communicate with them, and provide the resources and help that they will need to do so. We cater to different themes, locations and photoshoot trends. Examples include photoshoots at Hong Kong-style Dai Pai Dong outdoor food stalls, or even casual photoshoots and photoshoots that require props.
What would be a recent pre-wedding trend?
Casual wear is becoming a huge trend in pre-wedding styles these days because it gives a natural look that a lot of couples like. It is also quite interesting and unconventional!
Where do you often go for pre-wedding shoots?
Our team goes to Japan, Taiwan, Europe (Franca and Prague) and Macau for pre-wedding shoots every year.
Can you share some of your past pre-wedding photo locations with our readers?
Sure! Below are 6 unique locations:
1. Kyoto, Japan
2. Tuck shop -Taiwan
3. Boxing square - Macau, China
4. Dai Pai Dong (outdoor food stalls) - Hong Kong
5. Tainan Confucian Temple - Taiwan
6. Karuizawa - Nagano, Japan
Where would your top choices for pre-wedding photoshoots in Hong Kong be?
The Peak, Duddell Street and Stanley would be the popular, must-visit locations. Alternative locations which are as stunning and striking would include the High Island Reservoir in Sai Kung, To Kwa Wan’s Cattle Depot Artists Village, and Tai Mei Tuk.
Are there any tips which you would like to share, with regards to pre-wedding photoshoots?
DO'S
We would suggest for clients to refrain from using hair conditioners two days before the photoshoot, and not to drink too much water three hours before sleeping the night before, in order to avoid body oedema.
DONT'S
We don't actually suggest for our customers to lose weight or to hit the gym. As long as the process is enjoyable, and our clients like the outcome of the photoshoot, they are free to decide what they need to do in terms of preparation.
What is your suggestion on the number of photographers present at a wedding reception?
If clients are thinking of inviting over 15 tables of guests (about 150 individuals), we would recommend hiring two photographers and one videographer for the big day.
On average, how long does it take for the photos to be ready and delivered to the couple?
We usually have the pictures ready to preview a month after the photo shoot, and it’ll take 5 to 6 months for clients to obtain the physical albums.
