Wedding in Kuala Lumpur. Two hotels in one day.
The wedding ceremony was held in Kuala Lumpur at The Saujana Hotel, followed by the wedding dinner at the Double Tree by Hilton.
Theme : Spring Fling (Ceremony), Great Gatsby (Dinner)
What were the most memorable moments from your big day?
[Sheila]: As a bride, I of course had more than a few memorable moments but to name the most memorable moment of the wedding would be when we exchanged our vows with the two most meaningful words, “I Do". Also our first dance - the look in his eyes - I felt like a princess being swept around the dance floor by my Prince Charming!
What was the concept behind your wedding theme? why you choose the venue, colours, favours, etc?
The garden wedding we had was solely because of me. I'm the only Christian in both our families. I wanted to skip the ceremony but Naresh, my husband, wanted me to have MY dream wedding, and so I did. We chose Saujana for its spectacular views. It had both a garden and a lake. The setting was so intimate and romantic and it had a spring-touch to it. Since it was about me, we channeled my personality into it. I'm a very cheerful, bubbly and lighthearted person - also a hopeless romantic. So the theme was all pink and purply and white. We had "butterflies" flittering here and there and ribbons hanging from the trees for a sweet, romantic feel and look. I had a lot of help from my wedding planner, Leticia from Elysium weddings, with my favours and DIY ideas - she knew exactly what I wanted.
As for the dinner - I thought of dedicating it to my better half. We channeled his personality to it - he is a very classy, elegant and charming (and a bit serious :p). I thought the "Great Gatsby" theme would portray him perfectly. We held it at the Double tree hotel in KL and never regretted our choice - their service and food was marvelous! And as usual, Leticia worked wonders with the decor. The flowers, feathers and pearls were all so gorgeous and I was blown away when I walked in with Naresh for our grand entrance. The whole night I was just staring around coz I couldn’t believe how amazing everything was.
Your tips for brides-to-be?
Research, research, research!! Now that the wedding is over, I've learned a lot on what to do and not to do. I think researching all out is a must! Also, to work on your budget really well. Think through what you want and look at the options available and budget accordingly. Guest lists and RSVP are SOOOO important. That rules your budget immensely. I've wasted so much on favors, tables etc because of guests who did not rsvp properly. Figure out what you really want and then plan everything accordingly.
Where did you get your gown?
I got my Pronovias bridal gown from Designer Bridal Room in Hong Kong. My evening gown was from a local designer, Enya Mareine in PJ. Their service and the dress is just super top notch. Had I known about their existence and work earlier, I would've just asked them to design my bridal gown for me - I happier with my evening gown more than the wedding gown despite it being local vs international. Pronovias makes beautiful wedding dresses and it was just so sad that my experience in HK ruined the experience alittle (that's why I emphasize research, research!)
